That is how it looks like. YUMMY-li-CIOUS!

Guacamole is an avocado-based dip, having its roots in Mexico. English pronounce it as /ˌɡwækəˈmoʊliː/. Other language …I don’t know!! LMAO. Guacamole was originally made by mashing ripe avocados with a pestle and mortar and adding tomatoes and salt.  Generally what you need to make this dip are ripe avocados, lime or lemon juice, and salt. Lime juice is added for flavour and to slow the enzyme causing browning (presentation is important okay!). Other common ingredients include minced tomatoes, black pepper, chilli pepper, garlic, cumin, sour cream, and fresh coriander(cilantro).

I remembered the other day I went back to my parents place and my mom asked me to do some dips for chips and shell fish, well mainly prawns 🙂 The easiest is guacamole and the reason why, I don’t have to do different dipping for different snack foods.

guacamole

Ingredients:

2 – 3 ripe avocados quartered, pitted and peeled
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
3 tablespoons red onion chopped fine
¼ cup tomato diced
¼ cup chopped red pepper
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoons dried chili powder
1 teaspoon dried chili flakes
2 green onions chopped fine
splash hot sauce  or use chipotle/jalapeno chillis if desired
salt and pepper to taste

How to make it ? Let’s see…I said it earlier. IT IS DARN EASY!! 😛

In a medium bowl using a fork mash the avocado until smooth or if you’re lazy, use the modern way. Blend it in a food processor but make sure its not turn to porridge-like. Add the remaining ingredients and mix to combine. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Chill dip covered at least one hour before serving. Walla!!

Trust me…try it out. It’s quick, easy and de-li-cious!! Good to go with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chicken dishes, seafood or even as a spread on your sandwich or bagels! Shheeeshhh…just about everything 🙂
