SHOPPING MATH

A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.

A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn’t need.

GENERAL EQUATIONS & STATISTICS

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.

A successful woman is one who can find such a man! 😉

HAPPINESS

To be happy with a man, you MUST understand him a lot and love him A LITTLE.

To be happy with a woman, you MUST love her a lot and NOT TRY to understand her at all!

LONGEVITY

Married men live longer than single men,

But married men are a lot more willing to die.  😛

MEMoRY

Any married man should forget his mistakes,

There’s no use in two people remembering the same thing.

APPEARANCE

Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.

Women somehow deteriorate during the night. {hmmm…}

PROPENSITY To CHANGE

A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he DOESN’T.

A man marries a woman expecting that she won’t change, and she DOES. 😛

DISCUSSION TECHNIQUE

A woman has the last word in any argument.

Anything a man says AFTER that is the beginning of a new argument. {true…take it as advice}

COMPREHENSIoN

There are two times when a man doesn’t understand a woman, before marriage and after marriage.

HOW To STOP PEOPLE FROM BUGGING YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me “You’re next.”

They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals. { i tried and it worked!}

Don’t Believe in Miracles – Depend on Them!

How you decide who to marry… as written by kids

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY

1) You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. – Alan, age 10

2) No person really decides before they grow up who they’re going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you’re stuck with. – Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

1) Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. – Camille, age 10

2) No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married. – Freddie, age 6

(very wise for his age)

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

1) You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. – Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

1) Both don’t want any more kids. – Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

1) Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something
to say if you listen long enough. – Lynnette, age 8

(isn’t she a treasure)

2) On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a
second date. – Martin, age 10

(Who said boys do not have brains)

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?

1) I’d run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns. – Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

1) When they’re rich. – Pam, age 7

(I could not have said it better myself ;))

2) The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn’t want to mess with that. – Curt, age 7

(Good Point!)

3) The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It’s the right thing to do. – Howard, age 8

(Who made the rule?…)

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

1) I don’t know which is better, but I’ll tell you one thing. I’m never going to have sex with my wife. I don’t want to be all grossed out.– Theodore , age 8

(Too much detail for his age)

2) It’s better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. – Anita , age 9

(bless you child;))

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN’T GET MARRIED?

1) There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn’t there? – Kelvin, age 8

And the Favourite is…….

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

1) Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck. – Ricky, age 10

(The boy already understands!!)

District 9 by Peter Jackson

District 9

is an upcoming science fiction film produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp. The film is set for an August 14, 2009 release date!

District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg, a short film directed by Neill Blomkamp, Sharlto Copley, Simon Hansen and Shanon Worley. The title is influenced by real life District Six, Cape Town. Copley also portrayed one of the interviewed policemen. The short film is about aliens landing in South Africa and becoming confined to a specific area and forced to work.

In the movie, aliens make first contact with Earth 28 years prior while humanity waited for the hostile attack or for giant advances in technology, though neither came. Instead, the aliens that arrived were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were sent up in a makeshift home on South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. Patience over the alien situation ran out and control over them was contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare. MNU stood to receive tremendois profits if they can make the aliens’ advanced weaponry work.

MNU, thus far, has failed in making the alien weaponry work, for activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. Tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable, for he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Van der Merwe becomes ostracized and friendless and comes to hide in District 9.

S.P.R.E.A.D

Nope! I am not talking about food today.

SPREAD…a new movie by my one and only (amour) — AshtOn Kutcher!! The Spread world premiere has been announced for Saturday, January 17 at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. But the release of this movie going to be this August 14th. Don’t miss out! 😉

Set in modern day Los Angeles, Spread is a hard biting story about a high-end lethario, Nikki (Ashton Kutcher), who has slept his way into a life of privilege. He shares his secrets with us as he hosts parties and beds scores of women, all while living it up at the Hollywood Hills home of a middle-aged female attorney, Samantha (Anne Heche). Everything is going swimmingly until Nikki meets a gorgeous waitress named Heather (Margarita Levieva), who, unbeknownst to him, is playing the same game that he is. As the truth of their life unravels, they find themselves sexually charged by a game of one-upsmanship that has them dining at fine restaurants and crashing posh parties, until the truth of their lives forces them to choose between love and money. Inspired by classics like Shampoo, Breakfast at Tiffanys, and America Gigolo, Spread profiles a sexual grifter and his prey.

Los Angeles serves as a character unto its own in this film, providing slick and luxurious backdrops during Nikkis high times, and seedy, fleabag motels when Nikki has nowhere else to turn. Nikki runs the gambit of Hollywood dreams and nightmares. The supporting cast is comprised of gorgeous women like Emily (Rachel Blanchard), who is drawn in by Nikkis good looks and charm but is left feeling cold and used. Nikkis best friend, Harry (Sebastian Stan), struggles with their co-dependant relationship, always needing to bail Nikki out when he runs out of women to depend on.

Directed by David Mackenzie (Hallam Foe, Young Adam), Spread is an iconic look at the lure of sex, money, and access that Hollywood offers to the beautiful people, and the karmic price that Nikki must ultimately pay to live that lifestyle.

Bruschetta-[brusˈketta] ~;)

I know…I know! I am talking about food again. The reason why is that I just remembered the girls’ sleep over at my friend’s place in USJ2 couple of months ago. I went to Asia Cafe in SS15, Subang Jaya to get finger foods i.e. bruschetta, squid rings, chicken wings etc. I realised bruschetta was **sigh** as expensive as the squids. Luckily they’re out of it 😛

Bruschetta is not hard to make. Basically just throw everything together on a slice of bread (preferably use baguette) and grill it or toast it.    THERE YOU GO!

What You Need:

1 large baguette, sliced lengthwise

Roasted Garlic
1 head of garlic
2 sprigs fresh thyme
1 teaspoon olive oil

Spread
1 head of garlic roasted (see above)
1 can/jar sun dried Tomatoes, marinated
1 ½ cup grated Asiago cheese or Mozarella
¼ cup olive oil

Topping
4 vine ripened tomatoes, chopped medium dice
4 yellow tomatoes, chopped medium dice
1 red onion, finely diced
½ cup fresh basil, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste

Do not worry. All these ingredients you can easily get it from your local groceries 😉 You don’t have to use precisely what I use because you can just add basically anything! Improvised 😉 Sometimes, you can add prosciutto (dried thin slice ham). Well, in my case…my dad loves this kind of food. So he will go extra miles to buy beef proscuitto or salami or beef bacon. Yeah yeah…people keep saying it won’t taste the same. But at least it’s HALAL aye?!

Method:

Preheat oven toaster or grill to 300°F/150°C or medium low heat.

Cut the top off a whole head of garlic, just enough to expose the cloves. Pierce the garlic top with a fork multiple times. Place the garlic on a piece of aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil and top with thyme sprigs (you can get this from Jusco/Cold Storage) and wrap tightly.

Place garlic on the warming rack of the oven and close lid. Roast until tender and fragrant, (approximately 30 minutes). Remove and let cool.

In a blender combine the whole head of the peeled roasted garlic, sun dried tomatoes and olive oil. Puree until smooth.

Spread mixture evenly on both sides of the sliced baguette. Sprinkle cheese evenly over bread and set aside.

In a medium bowl combine the red and yellow tomatoes, red onion and basil. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Place the tomato mixture in the refrigerator and let marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Preheat oven or grill to 300°F/150°C or medium low heat.

Place the coated baguette on the warming rack of the oven and cook until warm and crispy.

Once the bread is toasted and cheese is melted remove from the grill. Top bread with the fresh tomato topping. Use a serrated knife to slice bread into desired pieces.

Want to see the finish product? 😉

bruschettaYep yep yep!! YUMMY-li-cious finger food or appetizer.

Guacamole ;~

You sure be asking what the heck am I talking about here aite? Well, to those of  you who don’t know what guacamole is …don’t worry. I will explain in a short while and to those who already knew, GLAD to know you know 😉

800px-El_tango_guacamole

That is how it looks like. YUMMY-li-CIOUS!

Guacamole is an avocado-based dip, having its roots in Mexico. English pronounce it as /ˌɡwækəˈmoʊliː/. Other language …I don’t know!! LMAO. Guacamole was originally made by mashing ripe avocados with a pestle and mortar and adding tomatoes and salt.  Generally what you need to make this dip are ripe avocados, lime or lemon juice, and salt. Lime juice is added for flavour and to slow the enzyme causing browning (presentation is important okay!). Other common ingredients include minced tomatoes, black pepper, chilli pepper, garlic, cumin, sour cream, and fresh coriander(cilantro).

I remembered the other day I went back to my parents place and my mom asked me to do some dips for chips and shell fish, well mainly prawns 🙂 The easiest is guacamole and the reason why, I don’t have to do different dipping for different snack foods.

guacamole

Ingredients:

2 – 3 ripe avocados quartered, pitted and peeled
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
3 tablespoons red onion chopped fine
¼ cup tomato diced
¼ cup chopped red pepper
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoons dried chili powder
1 teaspoon dried chili flakes
2 green onions chopped fine
splash hot sauce  or use chipotle/jalapeno chillis if desired
salt and pepper to taste

How to make it ? Let’s see…I said it earlier. IT IS DARN EASY!! 😛

In a medium bowl using a fork mash the avocado until smooth or if you’re lazy, use the modern way. Blend it in a food processor but make sure its not turn to porridge-like. Add the remaining ingredients and mix to combine. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Chill dip covered at least one hour before serving. Walla!!

Trust me…try it out. It’s quick, easy and de-li-cious!! Good to go with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chicken dishes, seafood or even as a spread on your sandwich or bagels! Shheeeshhh…just about everything 🙂
